Roasted Green Beans with Bacon
These roasted green beans are savory, smoky, and packed with flavor. The bacon crisps up beautifully while the onions become sweet and caramelized. Roasting at a high temperature gives the green beans golden brown edges and delicious blistered spots that make this simple side dish irresistible.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds fresh green beans
- 6 strips of cooked bacon
- 1/2 large onion
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 tablespoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F.
- Wash and trim the green beans.
- Dice the bacon and finely dice the onion.
- Toss the green beans, bacon, onion, olive oil, garlic powder, kosher salt, and black pepper together in a large bowl or resealable bag until evenly coated.
- Spread the mixture evenly onto a baking sheet.
- Roast for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the bacon is crisp and the green beans are golden brown and blistered.
Air Fryer Option
Working in batches, lightly spray the air fryer basket with non-stick cooking spray and spread the green bean mixture in a single layer. Cook at 400°F for about 20 minutes, or until the beans are blistered and the bacon is crisp.
Note
Avoid overcrowding the pan. Giving the green beans plenty of space allows them to roast instead of steam, creating delicious caramelized edges and crispy bacon pieces.
Serves 8 as a side dish.
